How to disable the hotkey that toggles the menu bar in Firefox

I use Firefox as my secondary browser and something that has been bothering me for some time now, is the fact that the Alt-key toggles the menu bar.

This is an issue for me because I use the Alt-key as my modifier-key for my window manager i3. Which means that I constantly toggle the menu bar by mistake. And while the menu bar is visible the keybindings for Vim Vixen doesn’t work.

The solution

The solution to the issue is actually rather easy. I found the solution on r/firefox on Reddit here. What you neede to do is to simply toggle a value in Firefox.

Copy and paste this link into your adress bar in Firefox:

about:config?filter=ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses

Then set the value to false by double-clicking on the string and you’re done.
